Once upon a time…in a land far, far away… Well, perhaps let’s not exaggerate with these fairy tales. Do you remember the wheat crisps to be prepared at home? Small squares, which after being placed in hot oil, expanded and turned into a crispy snack. It’s Snack – Przysmak Świętokrzyski, which is making its grand comeback.
Almost everyone remembers WSP’s “Społem” Kielce’s Snack. In its time it was at a peak of popularity as it was one of the most popular snacks in Poland. You get the crisps during frying the half-product in hot oil. During this process they expand to as much as even five times their size, which was always fascinating especially to children. “How do they do that” – the little ones would ask their mother, and the mother would answer: “Abracadabra..”
And that taste…exactly! A characteristic aroma cannot be mistaken for any other, but can it be described? It turns out, that it’s not that simple. Perhaps the best illustration for the unique taste of Snack is the fact, that once someone tries it, he cannot stop. Snack draws you in. It is an ideal snack, especially with beer or while watching a game. It’s also popular at parties as well as during movie watching evenings at home. Thanks to the fact, that it doesn't  contain any spices, it’s an excellent addition to sauces and dips. It can be both salty or sweet. Actually, how it’s going to spiced up and with what is left entirely to our imagination, and that is unlimited.
Frying Snack is simple and literally only takes a moment to prepare. All you have to do is pour enough amount of oil so that the crisps could be submerged in it and heat up to a temperature of about 180oC. The best way to check if the oil is ready, it’s best to throw in several crisps in it to test it. If they start to sizzle and expand, you can start frying! Throw Snacks into the oil in an amount so they easily lay on the surface of the oil. Once in a while, submerge them using a straining spoon and after about 10 seconds when they take on a straw golden color we take them out of the oil. Place them for a moment on a paper towel to drain off excess fat and voila! – they are ready to enjoy!
